How it works
On this spring color by sight word page the first sheet is a Nest: blue eggs, brown twigs and a word in every square. The words come from the Your words box, where your own list replaces the sample.

Spring sight words in three lists
The sample is Everyday words 1: little, are, one, did, go and by. Start from a list swaps it for Everyday words 2 or for Spring words, which are rain, bud, nest, egg, mud, seed, grow, frog, bee and sun. The Nest has 4 colors and takes 5 words.
Six spring sentences for the board
Little buds are out. One egg is in the nest. Did the frog go by? Some seeds grow fast. Her bee flew away. Was there mud? Yes! The two everyday lists are the common words of these six sentences.
- The Dragonfly, the Sprout and the Radish take 4 words at both sizes. The detailed Wheelbarrow takes 6, the most on this page.
- The Sprout's raindrops are 3 blue squares, so the word for blue is read only three times.
Questions and answers
Can I use my own spring sight words?
Yes, that is what the box is for. Type or paste up to 40 words, separated by commas, spaces or new lines. Words longer than 8 letters are left out, and the line under the box names them.
What does page 2 of the printout show?
The answer key: the same picture with every square colored. It prints unless you untick Answer key on page 2, a box in More options under the grid.
Are the lists matched to a grade?
No. They are our own pick of short common words and spring words, and they follow no published list or level. Two classes can print the same Nest with different words typed in.
