Questions and answers
Which sight words are on the lists?
188 short, common words of our own choosing. They follow no published scheme, so check them against your school's list. Two-letter words are left out because they read inside longer ones, as is does in this.
Can I make a sight word word search printable from my own words?
Yes. In the last place of the list under the grid, type or paste up to 40 words. The answer key updates too.
Is it a sight word search or a site word search?
Sight. A sight word is one a child learns to know whole, by sight, without sounding it out. A site word search is the same puzzle, spelled the way it sounds.
How were the words checked?
All 188 spellings were checked in the American Heritage Dictionary in September 2026. The clues are our own, and none contains its own word. Was and saw never share a list, because one reads backwards as the other.
