How it works
This fall color by sight word page opens on a Beech leaf with a word in every square. Replace the sample in Your words with your own list, up to 40 words, and the leaf is redrawn with them.

Three ready lists of fall sight words
Start from a list has two lists of everyday words, eight in each, and Fall words: leaf, tree, fall, rake, wind, corn, nut, crow, hay and cool. The Beech leaf uses 5 words at a time. Shuffle the words deals another 5 from the same list.
The sentences behind the lists
The 16 everyday words were taken from six sentences, which a class can read aloud when the crayons are down: This leaf fell down. It is on the tree. He will rake them up. She said, "Jump in!" They ran with the wind. Now it is cool out.
- At the easy size the Raccoon, the Sweater and the Football have 3 colors, so each takes 4 words.
- The Football's laces and stripes are white squares, so the leave-white word matters there.
Questions and answers
Which grade are the fall sight words for?
None in particular. The lists are our own short common words, such as this, down, she and said, with no grade levels and no published list behind them. Type the words your own program teaches and they replace ours.
Does the sheet print with an answer key?
Yes. Page 2 is the answer key: the leaf, the rake or the log colored in. More options, under the grid, has the box Answer key on page 2 for printing without it.
How many words can I type?
Up to 40, of 8 letters or fewer. A sheet uses 4, 5 or 6 of them, one for each color and one for white, and the rest wait for the next shuffle. The detailed Bowl of soup is the only 6-word picture.
Can pupils color on the screen?
Yes. Tap a word in the key, then tap squares to fill them with its color. Check my coloring puts a dashed frame on every square in the wrong color. Clear colors, pressed twice, empties the picture.
