One session, one student
Press Print the lesson plan. Write one goal the student can reach today, then what you will review, the new material and the practice. The last two blocks hold the work for next time and a line or two for the family.
A reading tutoring lesson plan template
For a reading tutor, the reading session sheet starts with a text the student already knows, moves to word work and a new text, and ends with something to read before next time.
- Meeting a student for the first time? First tutoring session records what they want help with, what was hard and the goals you set.
- After each session, add a row to the session record so the next step is in front of you next time.
- Session notes for families print two to a page; cut them apart for two students or two sessions.
Questions and answers
Is this a tutorial lesson plan template too?
Yes. A tutorial can be a small class of one student, or only a few, with a tutor, and the opening sheet plans one. The clock table splits it into Check in, Review, New material, Practice and Wrap up.
Is there an after school tutoring lesson plan template for a group?
Yes. The after-school tutoring log is for a tutor with several students in one room: 8 rows with Student, Working on and Help given columns and a box to check when the work is done.
Is there a tutoring lesson plan template PDF?
Yes. Each sheet saves as its own PDF from the print window, on Letter or A4, so the session plan and the notes for families are two files.
Is there a sample tutoring lesson plan?
Yes. The sample fills the clock table for a made-up 45 minute writing session: rereading last week's paragraph, finding topic sentences, then drafting a paragraph about a pet. Its minutes are a guess, not a rule.
