Two pages at Large

Page 1 is the letter: 5 capital M's to a row on Letter, 4 on A4, then lowercase m in 2 groups of 3. Capital M starts at the dot high on its left. Typing in the Words box clears all four sample rows; to keep M and m m m, press them first in Pick from the 74 rows and words.

What comes after the m

Start with map, mess, mix, mop and mud, one per short vowel. Then long vowels (mine, mule) and other sounds: moon, mouse, and monkey, where the o says u. At the end, m keeps its sound (drum, swim), but a b after it is silent: lamb, thumb, climb.

  • Type m n in the Words box: two humps, then one, from the same starting dot.
  • Mermaid, monkey and Michigan fit once across a row on Letter at Large. Map, mix and jam fit 3 times.

Questions and answers

How is capital M different from lowercase m on the sheet?

Capital M is four straight strokes and reaches up near the top line. Lowercase m is a short line and two humps under the dashed line. The Mm row prints the two side by side, 3 pairs to a row.

Why is there a b in lamb and thumb?

It is written but not said. On this letter M tracing page, lamb, thumb, comb, climb, crumb and limb share one group, so a class can trace the m and spot the silent b together.

Can the letter m tracing sheets print a name like Mia?

Yes. Pick from the 74 rows and words has 9 M first names, from Max and Mia to Mateo and Miles. Or type any name in the Words box. A share link holds your typed text, so keep student names out.
