How it works
Fall scramble words for the weeks between the first day of school and Halloween: orchards, falling leaves, geese flying south and flannel shirts. Each word prints jumbled with a hint, and the answers print on their own page.

Leaves, orchards and geese
The easy list is the feel of fall: Crisp, Crunch, Cozy, Plaid. Medium, the opening sheet, holds Orchard, Chestnut, Foliage and Geese. The hard list includes Deciduous, Migration and Chrysanthemum, at 13 letters.
September and October
Use a sheet in the first cool weeks of school, before the Halloween and Thanksgiving puzzles. Each press of New scramble mixes the letters again, so early finishers can take a second sheet.
- Pair Deciduous with a walk outside: pupils name a tree that drops its leaves and one that keeps them.
Questions and answers
Does this fall word scramble come with answers?
Yes. The answer key prints on a separate page after the puzzle, so you can hand out the scrambles and keep the answers. To print the puzzle alone, untick Print the answer key under More options.
Are there Halloween or Thanksgiving words?
No. Those holidays have their own word puzzles, and this list shares no word with them: no Pumpkin, Scarecrow or Turkey here.
What grades is it for?
The easy list suits kindergarten and grade 1 with hints on, medium suits grades 2 and 3, and the hard list suits grade 4 and up.
Can we solve the fall words on the board?
Yes. Play shows one scramble at a time as big letter tiles: tap them in order. Skip moves on.
