The six events are a starting point. Change a heading to any event your meet runs, such as High jump or Discus, then press Print the sign up sheet. Students sign under every event they want, so one name can stand in several columns.
Heats, attempts and relay teams
The running events sheet gives six races four lines each, with Heat and Lane columns for the coach. The field events sheet has three attempt boxes and a Best box beside each name. Relay teams take one line each: four runners and an alternate. For the season, the track team sheet asks for a grade, events to try and a parent or guardian's phone.
- The heat sheet sets Lane 1 to Lane 8 down the side and six heats across.
- The helpers sheet names twelve jobs, from Starter to Results table.
Questions and answers
What goes on a track and field sign up sheet?
The meet, its date and the day sign ups close at the top, then each event with room for names under it.
Is this a track and field sign up sheet for students?
Yes. It is made to post at school, where students write their own names under their events. For one class, another sheet lists each student once, with a box for each event.
What is a heat in track and field?
One of several races of the same event. When too many people enter a race to run it together, early heats narrow the field. The Heat column is where a coach writes each runner's heat.
How many runners are on a relay team?
Typically four. Two very common relays are the 4 x 100 m and the 4 x 400 m. The relay sheet has four runner columns and one for an alternate.
