From Permission slip to Thank you note

Getting Ready has Permission slip, Name tag and Brown bag. On the Bus has Driver, Aisle and Route. Places to Go names 25 stops, from Aquarium, Planetarium and Zoo to Orchard, Pumpkin patch and Fire station. On the Tour has Docent, Exhibit and Scavenger hunt, Staying Together has Buddy, Head count and Roll call, and Back at School has Journal and Thank you note.

Three words with a story

School buses in North America are Yellow because a conference in 1939 chose a color that is easy to see. Bus is short for omnibus, Latin for "for all". Docent, a museum guide, comes from the Latin for "to teach".

  • The writing strip reads: Write one thing you hope to see on the trip, or the best thing you saw.
  • Add the name of your own destination to the word list before printing, and the class hunts for it.
