These Thanksgiving tracing worksheets open on pie, turkey, feast and thanks, each a dotted row above an empty row. Swap in any of the 96 words in the list, from corn to cornucopia.

What prints on the page

At Large (19 mm) a page holds 8 rows: 4 words and 4 empty rows. Pie is traced 3 times across its row; turkey, feast and thanks twice. No picture prints, so the empty row is where the child draws the pie.

Pick words by letter height

Every word carries its tall letters and tails. Twelve use short letters only, such as corn, oven, menu and mom. Fork, table and bread bring in tall letters. Hold the tails of gravy, turkey and napkin for later, and the capitals of November, Thursday and Mayflower for last. A child not yet on letters gets 8 pattern rows: y y y y is a row of wishbones.

  • At Extra large (26 mm), type or pick 3 words. They replace the 4 samples and stay on 1 page.
  • Type each guest's name in the box, and the child traces the place cards for the table.

Questions and answers

Do the sheets print a turkey to color?

No. The tool prints letters on guide lines, so the child draws the turkey, the pie or the table in the empty row under each traced word.

Are there words about the Pilgrims and the harvest of 1621?

Yes, 7, in a group headed The harvest of 1621: harvest, Mayflower, Pilgrims, Plymouth, Wampanoag, ship and voyage. Each carries one checked fact, such as the three days of celebration at Plymouth in the fall of 1621.

How do I fit Happy Thanksgiving on a card?

Under More options, set What to practice to Words or sentences, then pick Happy Thanksgiving from the practice lines. It takes two rows at Large. Thank you for and Dear Grandma, are in the same list.
