How it works

This graph paper with x and y axis fills the page with squares, draws both axes and leaves the numbers to you, so any scale fits. The axes cross in the middle or meet at the corner.

Graphing paper with x and y axis in the middle or at the corner

Axes through the middle show all four quadrants, for negative numbers. Axes along the bottom and left edges show the first quadrant, where both numbers are positive, and give it the whole page. The axes cross at a point called the origin.

Write your own scale

The opening sheet has a heavy line every 5 squares, so a scale of 5, 10 or 50 to a heavy line is quick to mark. On Letter it reaches 15 squares each side of the y axis and 20 above and below the x axis.

  • Label the axes x and y and write 0 at the origin before you number any lines.

Questions and answers

Can I use this as online graph paper with axis lines?

The sheet is drawn on the screen before it prints, so you can check the squares and the axes first. The plotting is done on paper: the page does not take points or draw lines for you.

How do I get graph paper with x and y axis pdf files?

Press Print graph paper and choose Save as PDF as the printer. The file holds the one sheet on screen at true size, on Letter or A4.

Where are the numbers on the axes?

Left off on purpose, so one sheet serves any scale. For axes already numbered from -10 to 10 or from 0 to 15, use the coordinate grid maker.

What are the small planes for?

Two, four or six small planes fit one page, each with both axes and no numbers. That gives one plane for each homework problem.
