Match the problems to the grade

Problems lists 7 choices, Addition to All four operations. Common Core has kindergartners add and subtract within 10, second graders do it within 20 fluently, and third graders know every product of two one-digit numbers from memory. More options holds 4 Quick settings: Add within 10, Add and subtract within 20, Times tables 2 to 5, and All tables, multiply and divide.

White squares that belong to the picture

The Candy cane sits on green and the Santa hat on blue, so their white stripes, brim and pompom are part of the drawing. White squares hold problems too, and the last line of the key reads leave white. Untick Problems in the white squares too and the easy Christmas tree drops from 64 problems to 34.

  • The easy Candy cane, Santa hat and Stocking need 2 crayons each; the detailed Christmas tree needs 5.
  • New problems keeps the picture and rewrites every square, so two tables get different sheets of one Reindeer.

Questions and answers

Is this a Christmas coloring page or a math worksheet?

Both, but it is a grid and not line art. Christmas coloring math worksheets like these are pixel pictures: 64 squares at Easy 8 by 8 or 144 at Detailed 12 by 12, each colored whole, so the Stocking builds up square by square.

Which setting is easiest?

Add within 10, under Quick settings in More options. It draws on 45 facts, 1 + 1 to 9 + 1, so on a grid of 64 squares some facts repeat. Keep the 8 by 8 size for the shortest sheet.

Do the times tables go up to 12?

Yes. Set Problems to Multiplication and tick any tables from 1 to 12 under Times tables. The other factor also runs to 12, so the largest fact is 12 × 12. Every division comes out exactly, with no remainder.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. Page 2 prints the finished picture in color. Unticking Answer key on page 2 under More options leaves it out of a class set. The sheet itself is one page on Letter or A4.

Is there Christmas math with nothing to color?

Yes, on another page. The Christmas math worksheets print counting and written sums from kindergarten to grade 5, with no grid and no key of colors.

How this list was compiled: Own original pixel pictures of Christmas things, drawn square by square for this page on 8 by 8 and 12 by 12 grids. Nothing is traced or copied, and no picture shows a character from a film, show, book or game. The square counts were computed from the grids by script.
