What a border costs in lines
Every sheet keeps half an inch clear at the paper's edge. The border and its padding take 7/8 inch more from each bordered side. On Letter, a plain wide ruled page has 29 lines of 7 1/2 inches; a framed one has 24 lines of 5 3/4 inches. Lights along the top or trees along the bottom give back 2 lines and the full length.
Borders made for coloring
Each border is a thin outline with no filled areas: holly leaves and berries, five-point stars, candy stripes, bulbs on a cord, trees built from triangles. The snowflakes have six arms, the pattern ice crystals grow in. Write first and color afterward, since pencil skips over crayon wax.
- A framed line on Letter is 5 3/4 inches, short for big handwriting. For long sentences, pick a one-edge or landscape sheet.
- For a class set, open More options and choose Black, for a copier. Then print one sheet and photocopy it.
- Print the thank-you notes before winter break and send two home with each student.
