Why the grid stops at 7 by 10
Half an inch stays clear on every side, which leaves 7.5 by 10 inches of a Letter page. So a 10 by 10 hundred grid of 1 inch squares cannot fit on Letter or A4. The 3/4 inch sheet holds 10 across on Letter, or use the hundreds chart.
What squares this big are good for
A 1 inch square holds a sticker, a counter or a young child's numeral. Shade 3 rows of 4 to show an array. Count the squares inside a rectangle for its area. Quilters draw blocks full size: a nine-patch is 3 rows of 3 squares.
- In More options, heavy black lines survive a photocopier and guide scissors. Thin grey lines almost vanish under crayon.
- For a game map at 5 feet to a square, the portrait sheet covers 35 by 50 feet.
- Slide a ten frame sheet into a clear sheet protector for a wipe-off board.
Questions and answers
How many 1 inch squares fit on one sheet?
Seven across and 10 down, 70 squares, on Letter and on A4 alike. Landscape gives 10 across and 7 down. A4 is narrower and taller than Letter, but not by a whole square. At true size, 7 squares span 17.8 centimeters.
Can I print big graph paper with squares larger than 1 inch?
Yes. The 1 1/2 inch sheet has 5 by 6 squares on Letter and 4 by 7 on A4. The 2 inch sheet has 3 by 5 on both. For more 1 inch squares on one page, print on 11 x 17 paper.
Is 1 inch grid paper the same as 1 inch graph paper?
Yes. Both names mean paper ruled into squares 1 inch on every side.
