The sheet is a simple multiplication chart on purpose: black numbers on a white grid, upright on Letter or A4, with a Name and Date line on top. The page has no PDF button. For a downloadable multiplication chart, choose Save as PDF in the print window, which most browsers offer.

Find every square that holds an answer

Tap a square, such as 7 × 8 = 56, and its row and column are tinted and the other 56 lit. The list All 59 answers, further down, says where each answer sits. Tap 24 and 6 squares light up: 2 × 12, 3 × 8, 4 × 6 and their turnarounds.

  • Chart size 1 to 10 makes a first chart. 1 to 12 adds 44 squares and 17 new answers.
  • New practice chart hides 72 of the 144 answers. Type them in and press Check, or print the sheet.
  • In 7th grade, use the chart for factor pairs: tap 72 to light 6 × 12, 8 × 9 and their turnarounds.

Questions and answers

Is a 3rd grade multiplication chart 1 to 10 or 1 to 12?

It depends on the school. Common Core's Grade 3 standard is to multiply and divide within 100 and to know the products of two one-digit numbers, which Chart size 1 to 10 covers. England's national curriculum lists tables up to 12 × 12 for Year 4.

How many numbers are on a 1 to 12 multiplication chart?

144 squares, but only 59 different answers between 1 and 144. 12 and 24 appear most, in 6 squares each. Eight answers appear once: 1, 25, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121 and 144, all square numbers on the diagonal.

Is there a picture of a multiplication chart I can save?

Not as a file. This page has no image download. The chart at the top is drawn as text, so it stays sharp when you zoom in. For a slide, take a screenshot. For paper or a PDF, press Print the chart.

Is there a multiplication chart with 0?

Yes. Under Chart size, choose 0 to 12. The row and column of 0 add 25 squares that all read 0. Filled in, it prints sideways on 1 page.

Answers in 1 square 8

  • 1 Only 1 × 1, in the top left corner. It is the first square number on the diagonal.
  • 25 Only 5 × 5. A square number, so it sits on the diagonal. It is a quarter of 100.
  • 49 Only 7 × 7, on the diagonal. One 7 less is 6 × 7 = 42, and one 7 more is 8 × 7 = 56.
  • 64 Only 8 × 8. Keep doubling from 1 and you land on it: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64.
  • 81 Only 9 × 9. 8 + 1 = 9, and it is the largest square number below 100.
  • 100 Only 10 × 10. It is the last square on a chart that stops at 10.
  • 121 Only 11 × 11. The doubled-digit pattern of the 11 row stops at 99, so work this one out: 110 + 11 = 121.
  • 144 Only 12 × 12, in the bottom right corner. It is the largest number on the chart. A dozen dozens is called a gross.

Answers in 2 squares 35

  • 2 1 × 2 and 2 × 1. 2 is prime, so it sits only in the first row and the first column.
  • 3 1 × 3 and 3 × 1. 3 is prime, so the only way to make it is 1 times itself.
  • 5 1 × 5 and 5 × 1. Every answer in the 5 row ends in 5 or 0.
  • 7 1 × 7 and 7 × 1. 7 is prime, like 2, 3, 5 and 11, so it appears only twice.
  • 11 1 × 11 and 11 × 1. From 11 × 2 to 11 × 9 the answer is one digit written twice: 22, 33, 44 and so on.
  • 14 2 × 7 and 7 × 2. Double 7, or 7 + 7 = 14.
  • 15 3 × 5 and 5 × 3. Count by 5 three times: 5, 10, 15.
  • 21 3 × 7 and 7 × 3. Count by 7 three times: 7, 14, 21.
  • 22 2 × 11 and 11 × 2. Double 11, written as the digit 2 twice.
  • 27 3 × 9 and 9 × 3. 2 + 7 = 9, so it fits the 9 row.
  • 28 4 × 7 and 7 × 4. Double 7 is 14, and double 14 is 28.
  • 32 4 × 8 and 8 × 4. Double 8 is 16, and double 16 is 32.
  • 33 3 × 11 and 11 × 3. The digit 3 written twice.
  • 35 5 × 7 and 7 × 5. It ends in 5, as an odd number times 5 always does.
  • 42 6 × 7 and 7 × 6. Start from 6 × 6 = 36 and add one more 6.
  • 44 4 × 11 and 11 × 4. The digit 4 written twice.
  • 45 5 × 9 and 9 × 5. It ends in 5 and 4 + 5 = 9, so it fits both rows.
  • 50 5 × 10 and 10 × 5. Half of 100.
  • 54 6 × 9 and 9 × 6. 5 + 4 = 9. Or take 6 away from 6 × 10 = 60.
  • 55 5 × 11 and 11 × 5. The digit 5 written twice.
  • 56 7 × 8 and 8 × 7. Read it as 5, 6, 7, 8: 56 = 7 × 8.
  • 63 7 × 9 and 9 × 7. 6 + 3 = 9. Or take 7 away from 7 × 10 = 70.
  • 66 6 × 11 and 11 × 6. The digit 6 written twice.
  • 70 7 × 10 and 10 × 7. Write a 0 after the 7.
  • 77 7 × 11 and 11 × 7. The digit 7 written twice.
  • 80 8 × 10 and 10 × 8. Ten 8s, or 8 tens.
  • 84 7 × 12 and 12 × 7. Split the 12: 7 × 10 = 70, 7 × 2 = 14, and 70 + 14 = 84.
  • 88 8 × 11 and 11 × 8. The digit 8 written twice.
  • 90 9 × 10 and 10 × 9. It is 9 less than 99 and 10 less than 100.
  • 96 8 × 12 and 12 × 8. Split the 12: 8 × 10 = 80, 8 × 2 = 16, and 80 + 16 = 96.
  • 99 9 × 11 and 11 × 9. The digit 9 written twice, and 1 less than 100.
  • 108 9 × 12 and 12 × 9. Split the 12: 9 × 10 = 90, 9 × 2 = 18, and 90 + 18 = 108.
  • 110 10 × 11 and 11 × 10. Write a 0 after the 11.
  • 120 10 × 12 and 12 × 10. Write a 0 after the 12.
  • 132 11 × 12 and 12 × 11. Ten 12s are 120, and one more 12 makes 132.

Answers in 3 squares 3

  • 4 1 × 4, 4 × 1 and 2 × 2: 3 squares, one of them on the diagonal.
  • 9 1 × 9, 9 × 1 and 3 × 3: 3 squares. In the 9 row, the digits of every answer up to 90 add up to 9.
  • 16 2 × 8, 8 × 2 and 4 × 4: 3 squares. Double 4 is 8, and double 8 is 16.

Answers in 4 squares 10

  • 6 1 × 6 and 2 × 3, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. It is the smallest answer that sits in 4 squares.
  • 8 1 × 8 and 2 × 4, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. Doubling gets you there: 2, 4, 8.
  • 10 1 × 10 and 2 × 5, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. To multiply a whole number by 10, write a 0 after it.
  • 18 2 × 9 and 3 × 6, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. 1 + 8 = 9, the sign of the 9 row.
  • 20 2 × 10 and 4 × 5, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. Four 5s make the same as two 10s.
  • 30 3 × 10 and 5 × 6, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. Half of 60, so 5 × 6 is half of 5 × 12 = 60.
  • 40 4 × 10 and 5 × 8, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. Double 20.
  • 48 4 × 12 and 6 × 8, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. Double 24.
  • 60 5 × 12 and 6 × 10, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. An hour has 60 minutes.
  • 72 6 × 12 and 8 × 9, plus their turnarounds: 4 squares. It is the largest answer that sits in more than 2 squares.

Answers in 5 or 6 squares 3

  • 12 1 × 12, 2 × 6 and 3 × 4, plus their turnarounds: 6 squares, the most on the chart, tied with 24. Twelve is a dozen.
  • 24 2 × 12, 3 × 8 and 4 × 6, plus their turnarounds: 6 squares, the most on the chart, tied with 12. There are 24 hours in a day.
  • 36 3 × 12 and 4 × 9 with their turnarounds, plus 6 × 6: 5 squares. No other answer on the chart sits in exactly 5 squares.
