Questions and answers

Why are Six and Sixteen in different lists?

In a grid, SIX starts SIXTEEN, SIXTY and SIXTH, so a pupil could circle the wrong one. That is why zero to twelve and the teens and tens are separate lists. Easy Number Words leaves out Sixty, Sixth, Tenth and None for the same reason.

Which tricky spellings do the clues point out?

Forty has no u, although Four and Fourteen do. Fifth and Twelfth swap the v of Five and Twelve for an f. Ninth drops the e of Nine, Eighth adds only an h, and Twentieth turns y into ie. Millennium doubles both l and n.

How big are the words in Big Numbers?

They follow the American short scale: a billion is 1 followed by 9 zeros, a decillion by 33. Googol, 1 followed by 100 zeros, was named by a 9-year-old in 1920. Lakh and Crore are 100,000 and 10,000,000. Values are from Wikipedia, September 2026.
