Questions and answers
Why are Set and Net missing from the lists?
SET sits inside SETTER, and NET sits inside MINTONETTE and, backwards, inside ANTENNA, so a grid could show either short word in a second place. Type Set or Net at the end of the word list to add it.
What does mintonette mean?
Mintonette is what the inventor of volleyball first called his game, which he meant as an indoor sport less demanding than basketball. The name volleyball came later, from the way players volley the ball. Mintonette is in Hard Volleyball Words.
What is a libero in volleyball?
A libero is a player who specializes in defense. The libero wears a jersey in a contrasting color, replaces a back-row player, and may neither block nor attack a ball that is wholly higher than the net.
What is a pancake in volleyball?
A pancake is a dig made with one hand flat on the floor, palm down, so that the ball bounces off the back of the hand and stays in play. It is in the Serving and Passing list.
