How it works
Type the birthday child's name at the end of the word list and it hides among the party words. This birthday word search printable draws them from a starter list of 23, Candles, Pinata and Confetti included. Nine more lists sit under Start from a list.

Add the birthday name and the guests
Type names under the party words, one per line, and the puzzle rebuilds as you type. Mary Jane is hidden as MARYJANE and listed as typed. Names stay in this browser.
Seven party lists with trivia in the clues
Cake and Candles, Decorations, Party Games, Presents and Cards, Guests and Invitations, Another Year Older, and Songs and Traditions hold 17 to 23 words each. In 1746 a German count's cake held one candle for each year of his age. The best-known birthday tune began as an 1893 classroom song. A person born on February 29 is a leapling.
- For a classroom birthday, press New puzzle between prints and every table gets a different grid with a matching key.
Questions and answers
Can I save the puzzle as a PDF?
Yes. Press Print or save as PDF and choose Save as PDF. The file has two pages, the puzzle with a name and date line and then the answer key, and both fit Letter and A4.
Where do the names I type go?
Nowhere. The puzzle is built on your device and nothing you type reaches us. This browser keeps the puzzle you changed for your next visit, and Start again brings the page's own puzzle back.
How many words and names fit on one sheet?
Each press draws 15 words from the list you picked, or all 12 from Short and Easy. Names come on top, up to 40 entries in all, and the grid grows to fit them.
