How it works
A number line to 100 is too long for one row, so this one runs in ten rows of ten, each starting where the last ended. The Sheet menu has shorter lines, 0 to 10 and 0 to 20, for younger classes.

Pick the line by age
In kindergarten, start with the big 0 to 10 line, marks 7/8 inch apart, so a finger can hop from number to number. First grade counts to 120, so 0 to 20 and then the rows to 100 fit. The fill-in sheets write only the two end numbers.
Use it for sums
To add 8 + 5 on 0 to 20, start at 8 and hop five marks to the right to land on 13. To subtract, hop left.
- For a wall line, cut the ten rows apart and tape them end to end, overlapping the number each row starts on.
- The by-tens line shows the whole of 0 to 100 at once.
Questions and answers
Is there a number line 1 to 20 as well as 0 to 20?
Yes. Number line 1 to 20 starts at one for counting objects, and Number line 0 to 20 starts at zero, which the line needs for sums such as 0 + 7. Both print five lines on a sideways page.
How do I get a free printable number line 1-100 as a PDF?
Pick a 0 to 100 sheet, press Print number lines and choose Save as PDF as the printer. Every sheet here saves as a PDF the same way, on Letter or A4.
What number line is best for kindergarten?
A short line with big spaces: the big number line 0 to 10. The kindergarten standards ask children to count to 100 by ones and tens and to add and subtract within 10, so 0 to 10 covers the sums.
