How it works
Each row on these missing number worksheets is a count with gaps, such as 15, 16, ___, 18, and the pupil writes the numbers that belong in the blanks. Ranges run from 10 to 1,000.

Pick the range
Missing numbers to 10 is for kindergarten. The rows to 20, 100 and 120 cross tens, where 59 is followed by 60. The rows to 1,000 are three-digit numbers, some crossing a hundred.
Before and after, and skip counting
The before-and-after tables give one number in the middle of each row: the number before 60 is 59, the one after is 61. The last four sheets leave gaps in rows that count by 2s, 5s, 10s and 100s.
- If a pupil is stuck on a gap, have them say the row out loud from its first number and stop at the blank.
- Keep a hundreds chart nearby for the rows to 100: the missing number is the next square.
Questions and answers
What grade are missing number worksheets for?
Rows to 10 and 20 suit kindergarten and grade 1, rows to 100 and 120 grade 1, and rows to 1,000 and counting by 5s, 10s and 100s grade 2, which is where Common Core places counting within 1,000.
Where do the gaps go?
The first two numbers of a row are always printed, so the pupil can see which way and by how much it counts. The blanks fall anywhere after them, and a row can end in a blank.
Is there an answer key?
Yes. With Answer key ticked, the key prints on its own page with every row written out in full.
