How it works
This color by number dolphin set opens on a dolphin leaping over a green sea. Seven more pixel pictures show dolphins face to face, with a calf, with two fish, surfacing, tail up and at sunset.

Blue dolphins on a green sea
Gray is not one of the 8 basic crayons, so on the easy grid the dolphins are blue and the sea is green. Open More options and choose Detailed 24 by 24: seven sheets turn the dolphins gray and the sea blue, with light blue ripples.
Where the white paper goes
Bellies, splashes and spray are left white, so those squares print empty. The Dolphin at sunset has none: it is a black outline, 46 squares, against yellow, orange and purple.
- The Smiling dolphin is the quickest sheet: 128 squares on the easy grid.
Questions and answers
Why is the dolphin blue and not gray?
The easy grid uses only the 8 basic crayon colors, and gray is not one of them. The detailed 24 by 24 grid adds gray, so there the dolphins are gray on a blue sea.
Is a dolphin a fish?
No. A dolphin is a mammal that lives in water, and it breathes air through a blowhole. The Surfacing dolphin shows a puff of spray above its head.
What is a baby dolphin called?
A calf. The Dolphin and calf picture shows a large dolphin with a small one swimming below it, both heading right.
