Seven faces, told apart by eyes and mouth
Every face is the same yellow circle, so the expression does the work: two arches for laughing eyes, one flat line for a wink, a black band for sunglasses, red stars, a round red mouth, a white Z for sleep and a red tongue.
Yellow and black on every face
Yellow and black are in all 7 face keys, and each background adds another crayon: purple, red, blue, orange, brown or green. Open More options and choose Detailed 24 by 24 for pink cheeks, white teeth and orange shading.
- The Sleepy face is the quickest sheet: 137 squares in 3 crayons on the easy grid.
Questions and answers
Is there a color by number smiley face?
Yes. Five of the pictures smile: the Laughing face, the Winking face, the Face with sunglasses, Star eyes and the Face with tongue out. Each is a yellow face with a black outline on a colored background.
Which emoji takes the most crayons?
The Laughing face: purple, black, yellow, blue and red on the easy grid, and 7 colors on the detailed one. The Winking face, the Face with sunglasses and the Sleepy face need only 3.
Are these the emojis from a phone?
No. Each one is our own pixel drawing, 12 or 24 squares across, and copies no phone's or app's emoji artwork. The names say what the face is doing: laughing, winking, surprised, sleepy.
