- The Level line is blank: write the level in whatever system your school uses.
- The notes grid has three columns: Student, What I heard and Next step.
- One sheet spreads a single book over two days.
Questions and answers
What are the parts of a guided reading lesson?
Three: before reading, the teacher introduces the book; during reading, each student reads while the teacher listens; after reading, the group talks about the text. This template adds Word work and Writing.
How do I plan a week of guided reading groups?
Print the week for four groups: a row for each group and a column for each day, Monday to Friday. The sample shows one way to spread first reads, rereads and writing days.
Does the template name a leveling system or books?
No. Book and Level are blank wherever they appear, and no publisher, program or title is printed. The page makes no claim about how well any way of teaching reading works.
