Questions and answers

What grammar should ESL beginners learn first?

This page takes seven points a beginner meets early: the verb be, the articles a, an and the, the prepositions in, on and at, do and does, some and any, much and many, and this, that, these and those. The choice of points is ours.

Are these English grammar worksheets PDF files?

They are web pages that print. To keep one as a PDF, press Print worksheet and pick Save as PDF as the printer. Each grammar point you pick in Set gives another sheet to save.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. The key is the last page: the same sheet with the right word circled and written in the blank. Uncheck it under More options to print the sheet alone.

Which rules do the sentences follow?

Each rule was read in English Grammar Today on the Cambridge Dictionary site on 2 October 2026: at for clock times, on for days and dates, in for months, years and seasons; much with nouns you cannot count, many with plurals.
