Four sheets, from the yard to the bathroom
Around the house names the building and its parts, floor and ceiling to chimney. Furniture and furnishings has table, shelf, drawer, rug, curtain and clock. In the kitchen goes from refrigerator to dishwasher, and In the bathroom from shower to toothpaste.
Words that are easy to mix up
The meanings tell near neighbors apart. A chair has a back and legs, a stool has no back and no arms, and an armchair has a rest on each side for your arms. A pillow holds up your head, a mattress is the pad you lie on, and a blanket keeps you warm.
- Kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room are in The house set of the ESL vocabulary worksheet.
- Yard and faucet are American words. Type the British ones, garden and tap, as word = meaning and the sheet prints yours instead.
Questions and answers
What are the parts of a house in English?
Every room has walls, a floor and a ceiling. Below the ground is the basement, and at the top, right below the roof, is the attic. Outside are the chimney, the garage and the yard.
What is the difference between a stove and an oven?
A stove heats food in pans on the hot plates on its top. An oven is a closed space that gets hot inside and is used for baking. Both are on the kitchen sheet.
Can I save the house vocabulary worksheet as a PDF?
Yes. Print worksheet opens the print window of your browser, and Save as PDF is one of its choices. The answer key comes out as the last page of that file.
