How it works
This classroom checklist for teachers is about the room alone: what stands in it, what hangs on its walls and what has to work on the first morning. Big things come first, because a moved bookcase undoes a finished bulletin board.

Sit in a student's seat first
Before the furniture lines are ticked, sit at a few desks, the back corner among them. See whether the board is in view and whether you can walk to every seat. Desks are easier to move now than once the walls and bins are finished around them.
- Need the same checklist classroom by classroom? Write the room number at the top and print one for each.
- The safety lines are things to find and to post. Your school decides what must be on the wall and where.
- Once the desks stand where you want them, the seating chart puts a name at each one.
Questions and answers
What should be on a classroom setup checklist?
The jobs that can be finished before any student walks in, sorted by area of the room: a chair at every seat, a calendar on the wall, a labeled turn-in tray, a tested projector, a clear doorway.
How do I set up a classroom for the first time?
Place the furniture and check it from a student's seat. Then back the bulletin boards, fill and label the supply bins and test every device. Leave one board empty: student work will fill it.
What supplies does a classroom need?
The supply sheet starts from 20 common ones, among them pencils, crayons, glue sticks, copy paper, folders and tissues. Tick Have or Need beside each, write how many, and take the page shopping.
Is there a classroom setup checklist for preschool?
The learning centers sheet is made for it. It lists ten centers, such as a writing center, a block area and pretend play, and each is ticked when it is set up, labeled and stocked.
