Print it, then write the names in

Press Print the job chart and write one helper in each box. Four weeks fit on the sheet, so a month of turns is planned at once. For your own jobs, pick a blank chart in the Sheet menu and write them in the Job column.

A preschool classroom job chart

The preschool charts have 8 jobs and taller rows: Line leader, Door holder, Snack helper, Weather helper, Calendar helper, Clean-up helper, Book helper and Plant waterer. One has a box for each day from Monday to Friday, for a class that changes helpers daily.

Let students apply

The classroom job application asks for a first and second choice of job and a reason. A second sheet prints two short applications with a cut line.

  • More students than jobs? The 20 job chart adds a Substitute, who does the job of anyone who is away.
  • For a classroom jobs display, print the one-helper chart: its rows are the tallest of the 12 job charts.
  • Hang the job list beside the chart, so nobody has to ask what a Caboose does.

Questions and answers

What jobs go on a classroom job chart?

The opening chart has 12: Line leader, Door holder, Caboose, Paper passer, Pencil sharpener, Librarian, Plant waterer, Calendar helper, Board cleaner, Lights helper, Messenger and Table washer. The classroom jobs list sheet has 20, each with one line on what the helper does.

Is there a job chart for classroom use that I can fill in myself?
