How it works
This monthly reading log opens on 31 dated rows. Write the month on its line and a minutes goal above it, then fill in the book title and the minutes on the row for each date. A parent initials the last column.

Print the log for any month
Press Print the reading log for the 31 day sheet, or pick 30 days in the Sheet menu for April, June, September and November. The dates are plain numbers with no year and no weekday, so one master copy serves every month it fits.
A calendar instead of rows
The Sheet menu also has a blank reading calendar headed Sunday to Saturday. The child writes the date in each box, then the minutes. Five rows hold most months. Pick 6 weeks when a 31 day month starts on a Friday or Saturday, or a 30 day month on a Saturday.
- In a February with 28 days, leave the row marked 29 (leap year) empty.
- On the calendar with weekly totals, add each row across on the weekend, then add the totals for the month.
Questions and answers
How many rows does a monthly reading log need?
One for each day: 31 for January, March, May, July, August, October and December, 30 for April, June, September and November, and 28 for February, or 29 in a leap year.
Is there a February reading log?
Yes. The February reading log has its own reading challenge, a log dated 1 to 28 with a leap year row, and a 29 box tracker. The plain dated sheet is here too: pick February reading log in the Sheet menu.
Is there a January, July or August reading log?
January has a page of its own, the January reading log, with a reading challenge and a 31 box tracker. July and August are sheets here, as January is: the month's name in the goal line, the dates 1 to 31, no year.
Why does the reading calendar have no dates in its boxes?
A month starts on a different weekday from one year to the next, so printed dates would be wrong most years. Write 1 in the box under the weekday the month starts on and count on from there.
