Print, or pick older grades
Press Print the reading log to print the kindergarten to grade 2 sheet. The grades 3 to 6 sheet is second in the Sheet menu. It asks for four lines of a poem learned by heart, a whole story told in verse and a book about the water cycle.
30 days, no year
April has 30 days, so the dated log stops at row 30 and the tracker has 30 boxes, 5 rows of 6. No year or weekday is printed. Only one prompt carries a date: Earth Day falls on April 22 every year.
- A haiku and a limerick are both short enough to copy onto the back of the sheet.
Questions and answers
When is Earth Day on the April reading log?
April 22. Earth Day is held on that date every year and was first held in 1970. The kindergarten to grade 2 sheet asks for a book about trees for the day, and other prompts cover recycling and the Earth seen from space.
What are the April reading prompts for grades 3 to 6?
There are 12, such as a book about saving a forest or a reef, a book of tongue twisters for April 1, a book about how a chick hatches and a book about birds returning in spring.
How many days does the April reading log have?
30. The dated log prints the dates 1 to 30 down its first column, then Book title, Minutes and Parent initials. The challenge sheets have 12 rows.
Will the April reading log be right next year?
Yes. No year and no weekday is printed, and Earth Day keeps its date, so the same copy can be used again.
