A lab safety word search for the first week
For a lab safety word search, stay with three lists in the Start from a list row under the puzzle. They are Safety Gear and Stations (22 words), Hazards and Warning Labels (32) and Lab Rules and Safe Habits (26). Glassware and Measuring (27) and Burners, Stands and Tools (23) name the equipment, from Beaker and Meniscus to Tripod and Wire gauze.
Easy and hard lab lists
Easy Science Lab holds 38 words of 3 to 5 letters, such as Acid, Sash and Tongs. Hard Science Lab holds 42 of 9 to 12 letters. Of the 130 entries, 31 are two words. The grid drops the space: Fume hood is found as FUMEHOOD. For single words only, pick Science Lab Key Terms.
- Extinguisher fills 12 squares, so the key terms need a grid of 12 by 12 or more.
- Erlenmeyer is a surname: the clue says a German chemist made the cone-shaped flask in 1860.
Questions and answers
Does this word search replace a lab safety lesson?
No. It is a vocabulary sheet. It helps pupils read and spell the words on the lab rules handout and on chemical labels. Nothing here is a safety instruction. Your school's rules and the teacher's own briefing come first.
Is it a science safety word search or a lab equipment one?
Both, in separate lists. Gear, hazards and rules add up to 80 safety words. Glassware and burners add up to 50 equipment words. New puzzle keeps picking from the list you chose.
What do Danger and Warning mean on a chemical label?
They are the two signal words. A label carries one of them: Danger for the more severe hazards, Warning for the less severe. Both are in Hazards and Warning Labels, beside Pictogram, Flammable and Corrosive.
Can pupils solve the lab puzzle from definitions?
Yes. Tick Show clues, not words, in More options. Eyewash then reads "A station that rinses the eyes with water after a chemical splash." The printed sheet carries the clues in place of the words.
Is the laboratory word search free to print?
Yes, with no sign-up. Two pages come out, on Letter or A4: a Name and Date line, the grid and the word list, then the answer key. For a PDF, pick Save as PDF in the print window.
