Six lists for a circuits and static unit

In the Start from a list row under the puzzle, six lists follow the unit: Circuits and Components (24 words), Current, Voltage and Resistance (23), Static Electricity and Lightning (22), Magnets and Generators (23), Electricity at Home (22) and Units and Inventors (20). For the last, press Add another until the list holds 20: Volt, Ohm and Watt then share one grid with Faraday and Franklin.

An electrical word search with trade words

For an electrical word search closer to the trade, pick Electricity at Home: Outlet, Plug and Wiring beside Circuit breaker, Short circuit and Electrician. Circuit breaker needs 14 squares, and the 15 by 15 grid holds it.

  • Ohm's law loses its space and apostrophe in the grid: OHMSLAW. Eight more entries with a space hide closed up.
  • Easy Electricity holds 41 words of 3 to 5 letters, such as Bulb, Fuse and Volt.
  • With Show clues, not words ticked, Diode reads "A component that lets current pass in one direction only."

Questions and answers

Is this a lesson on electrical safety?

No. It is a vocabulary sheet for a science unit. Electricity at Home gives plain meanings for Outlet, Circuit breaker and Short circuit, and nothing on the page is a safety instruction. Your classroom rules for batteries and wires come first.

Who discovered electricity?

No one person. The word comes from elektron, the Greek name for Amber. The clues credit Franklin with the lightning rod, Oersted with finding in 1820 that a current moves a compass needle, and Faraday with electromagnetic induction in 1831.

Does the electricity word find print with an answer key?

Yes. It prints on 2 pages, Letter or A4: the puzzle under a Name and Date line, then the key with every word ringed. The key matches only the grid made here. For a file, pick Save as PDF in the print window.

Can older students use this electricity puzzle?

Yes. Choose Hard Electricity and press Hard; the grid grows when a word needs room. Its 36 words of 9 to 14 letters, Electroscope and Hydroelectric among them, can lie in any of 8 directions, backwards included.
