Questions and answers
What is the difference between a beaker and a flask?
A beaker is a cylinder-shaped container with a flat bottom and straight sides, and most have a small spout for pouring. A flask has a wider body that narrows to a neck at the top.
What lab equipment is used to measure the volume of a liquid?
A graduated cylinder: each marked line shows an amount of liquid. A burette delivers known volumes through a tap at one end, and a pipette moves one measured volume from one container to another.
What is the difference between tongs and forceps?
Tongs grip and lift objects, often ones too hot to hold. Forceps are a hinged instrument, held in the hand, that grasps and holds objects. Tweezers are small forceps for things too small for the fingers.
Can pupils solve the lab equipment puzzle from definitions?
Yes. Tick Show clues, not words, and Tripod prints as "A three-legged platform that supports flasks and beakers." The answer key follows as page 2, on Letter or A4.
