From Force to Photosynthesis

The easy list is the first science words: Cell, Force, Light, Sound. Medium, the opening sheet, holds Gravity, Orbit, Erosion and Nucleus. The hard list is the long vocabulary: Hypothesis, Condensation, Precipitation and Photosynthesis.

Review before a test

Hints on, the sheet is a vocabulary review: pupils read the definition and unscramble the term. Hints off, it tests spelling. Evaporation, Condensation and Precipitation make a water cycle set on the hard list.

  • Photosynthesis splits into photo and synthesis: a clue for pupils who stall on 14 letters.

Questions and answers

What grades is this science word scramble for?

The easy list suits grades 1 and 2, medium suits grades 3 and 4, and the hard list, with Photosynthesis at 14 letters, suits grade 5 and up.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. Print gives the scramble sheet and then the answer key on a page of its own. For a grid puzzle on the same unit, use the science word search or the science crossword.

Could a pupil find a different word?

No. Words such as Atom (moat), Rock (cork) and Density (destiny) were left out because their letters spell a second word.

Can a class race through it on the board?

Yes. Play shows one science word at a time as letter tiles, with a stopwatch and a count of words solved. Hint places a letter when the room is stuck.
