How it works
This Italian word search for beginners hides 16 of the 20 words in Colors, such as Rosso, Giallo and Azzurro, in a 15 by 15 grid. Eight more units cover numbers, family, school, food, animals, the calendar and the body.

Pick the unit you are teaching
Under the puzzle, Start from a list has twelve lists. Nine are units of 13 to 24 words, from Colors to Parts of the Body, so one 16-word puzzle covers most of a unit. Short Words holds 68 words of 3 to 5 letters. For words about the country in English, print the Italy word search.
Turn the sheet into an article quiz
Tick Show clues, not words. Each noun's clue gives the English meaning, then the article and a blank: "the backpack: lo ___" hides Zaino and "the water: l'___" hides Acqua. Pupils practice il, lo, la and l' along with the spelling: Mano ends in o but takes la.
- The grid prints plain capitals, so Caffè hides as CAFFE. The word list keeps the accents, which seven words carry.
- The Italian alphabet has 21 letters. No word here holds J, K, W, X or Y, so those are filler.

Questions and answers
Why do Tredici, Diciotto and Trenta sit in a second numbers list?
Because Tre reads inside Tredici and Trenta, and Otto inside Diciotto, and one list may not hold a word inside another. So Numbers 0 to 12 holds 13 words, and Numbers 13 and Up holds the teens, the tens, Cento and Mille.
Why do the days and months start with a capital here?
Only because every entry in the list does. Italian writes lunedì, marzo and the other days and months with a small first letter. Tell pupils before they copy the words into sentences.
How was the Italian word find checked?
In September and October 2026 every spelling, final accent and gender was looked up in the Treccani Vocabolario, and every English meaning in Wiktionary's Italian entries. Articles follow gender and first letters: lo before z or s plus a consonant, l' before a vowel.
