How it works
This lined paper for cursive writing draws 9 sheets of three-line rows, a top line, a dotted midline and a baseline, crossed by light guides at 52 degrees, the slant of Spencerian script. Some add a tail line, a shaded band or a picture box.

Cursive handwriting lined paper by size
Start with 3/4 or 5/8 inch rows while strokes are big. Move to 1/2 inch, then 3/8 inch as letters shrink. The four-line sheets add a line under the baseline for the tails of g, j, p, q, y and z. Landscape rows fit a whole sentence on one row.
What the slant lines do
Each downstroke should run parallel to the nearest guide, so every letter leans the same way. The guides are light, so they fade behind pencil. The shaded band shows where the body of each small letter sits, between the midline and the baseline.
Questions and answers
What slant does the cursive paper use?
52 degrees from the baseline, the slant of Spencerian script. School cursive styles lean a little more or less; the guides show a steady lean, not one program's angle.
What size lined paper is best for cursive?
There is no single standard. Large rows, 3/4 or 5/8 inch, suit a first try at joined letters; 1/2 inch suits most practice; 3/8 inch suits older students with smaller writing.
Is there lined paper for cursive without slant lines?
Yes: our handwriting paper page has the same three-line rows without guides, in sizes from 1 inch to 3/8 inch, plus 3 more slant sheets.
