Wide ruled vs college ruled
Wide ruled lines sit 11/32 inch (8.7 mm) apart; college ruled lines sit 9/32 inch (7.1 mm) apart. So a Letter page holds 29 wide ruled lines against 35 college ruled ones. Wide rule suits young and large handwriting; for college rule, print our lined paper page.
Which sheet to print
The red margin page matches wide rule notebook paper. The title and numbered sheets suit reports and question sets, the picture box suits a story with a drawing, and the checklist suits chores and supply lists. The 11 x 17 page needs a printer that takes that paper.
- Check the first print with a ruler: 8 line gaps should measure 2 3/4 inches. If short, print at 100%, not Fit to page.
