How this list was compiled: Our own list, written for this site on 2026-10-02: 60 short actions of four words or fewer, 30 that follow common classroom rules and 30 that do not. It is a sample to sort, not a set of rules for any class: no published rule list, poster or program was copied, and the page makes no claim about behavior. Licence: own work

Cut, sort and paste

The tiles sit at the bottom of the sheet, five for each heading, mixed up. Children cut them out and paste each one under its heading. Answer by switches to Pencil only, which prints the actions in a word box with lines to write on.

Your own class rules

Type one heading per line, then a colon and the actions: Follows our rules: walk, whisper, share. What you type replaces the sample. All 60 actions are listed under the tool to copy from.

  • Things to sort prints 6 or 8 tiles for a shorter sheet; ten is the most a Letter page holds.

Questions and answers

What do kindergarten rules worksheets ask children to do?

This one asks them to sort. Five tiles follow the class rules, such as wait in line and cap the markers, and five do not, such as grab a toy and slam the door. Children cut, sort and paste.

Can I use the rules my class agreed on?

Yes. Type two headings in the box above the sheet, each followed by a colon and up to ten actions with commas between them. The sheet is drawn again from your lines.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. It prints as the last page and shows each action under its heading. To print the sheet alone, uncheck Add an answer key as the last page under More options.

Does the sheet say which rules are right?

No. The headings and the 60 actions are a sample of common classroom rules, and the sort makes no claim about behavior. Change any of them to match your own class.
