Every form was checked in Wiktionary (en.wiktionary.org, CC BY-SA 4.0) and in the American Heritage Dictionary in October 2026. Verbs with two accepted forms of the same length were left out. One answer for each blank

A time word such as yesterday, or a helper such as has or is, shows which form the blank needs. Where a dictionary accepts two forms of one length, as with sang and sung for the past of sing, that form is not asked for.

  • Lay and Lain are both here, clued with lie: the dog lay in the shade yesterday, and it has lain by the door all morning.
