How this list was compiled: Own list of Spanish color words, chosen for this site on 2026-10-11, in three sets of twelve. The spelling, accent marks, feminine forms and color senses of every word were read that day in the Diccionario de la lengua española of the Real Academia Española (https://dle.rae.es/rojo, the same address pattern for each word), in the copies of those pages kept at web.archive.org, and the English meaning in the word's Spanish entry at Wiktionary (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/rojo, the same pattern). Arcoíris stands under arco in the first dictionary (arco iris, also arcoíris), azul marino under azul (and has an entry of its own at Wiktionary), and the color sense of café, naranja, rosa, violeta, turquesa, granate, ocre and fucsia is a numbered sense of the entry for the thing each is named after. The note after each meaning is our own wording of what those entries say. Licence: own work
