How this list was compiled: Own list of Spanish words for farm animals, pets, the farm and the sounds animals make, chosen for this site on 2026-10-11, in four sets of twelve. The spelling, accent marks, gender and senses of every word were read that day in the Diccionario de la lengua española of the Real Academia Española (https://dle.rae.es/vaca, the same address pattern for each word), in the copies of those pages kept at web.archive.org, and the English meaning in the word's Spanish entry at Wiktionary (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/vaca, the same pattern). In the first dictionary la gallina stands under gallo, el pollito only as the diminutive of pollo, and el conejillo de Indias under conejillo; the second has an entry for each. The animal named beside a verb is the one the first dictionary names in the entry of the verb or of its sound (maullido, mugido, relincho, balido, gruñido, aullido); for rebuznar the sound word is from Wiktionary's entry rebuzno. The phrase animales de granja, given in the answers on the page, was read in the entry farm of the Cambridge English-Spanish Dictionary (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english-spanish/farm). The note after each meaning is our own wording of what those entries say. Licence: own work
