How it works
This November word scramble holds 30 words of the month: Election Day, the clocks going back an hour, bare branches and the first frost. Each word has a hint, and the answer key prints on its own page.

Election Day, clocks, first frost
The easy list is short words: Term, Booth, Twigs, Brisk. Medium, the opening sheet, holds Ballot, Election, Governor and Daylight. The hard list reaches Polling place and Representative, at 12 and 14 letters.
Before the turkey words
Thanksgiving and Veterans Day have pages of their own, so this sheet covers the first weeks of the month. The voting words name no party and no candidate. Each press of New scramble deals the letters again.
- Ballot, Booth, Candidate and Polling place make a civics set: hold a class vote on a read-aloud book after the sheet.
- Standard time and Daylight pair up: ask what happens to sunset when the clocks go back an hour.
Questions and answers
When is Election Day?
The Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Federal law sets that day, in every even-numbered year, for electing members of Congress. Election, Tuesday and Representative are on the list.
When do the clocks go back?
At 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of November, when daylight saving time ends in most of the United States. Standard time, Daylight and Earlier are on the list.
Are there Thanksgiving words on it?
No. Turkey, Gravy and Cranberry are on the Thanksgiving word puzzles page, and Veteran and Armistice are on the Veterans Day scramble. This list shares no word with either.
What grades is it for?
The easy list (Term, Twigs) suits kindergarten and grade 1 with hints on. Medium suits grades 2 and 3, and the hard list (Candidate, Democracy) suits grade 4 and up. The answer key prints on its own page.
