How it works
This December word scramble holds the month's own words: the twelfth month, the shortest day, the school concert, the first flight and the Bill of Rights. Each word has a hint, and the answer key prints on its own page.

The last month, the shortest day
The easy list is short words: Month, Dusk, Icy, Pilot. Medium, the opening sheet, holds Twelfth, Sundown, Concert and Flurries. The hard list reaches Shortest day, Rehearsal and Twelve seconds.
December 15 and December 17
Two dates sit in the hints. On December 15, 1791, the first ten amendments, the Bill of Rights, were ratified. On December 17, 1903, the Wright brothers made the first successful airplane flights near Kitty Hawk. Read the hints aloud after the sheet.
- Twelve seconds is how long the first flight lasted: count it aloud so pupils feel how short it was.
- Shortest day and Solstice pair up: ask pupils why December afternoons get dark so early.
