How this list was compiled: Every row was worked out and checked in both directions on September 30, 2026, then compared with the table of 12-hour and 24-hour times in Wikipedia. Midnight and noon are written as the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology and Wikipedia write them. Licence: own work

Print the chart

Press Print the time chart. It prints on one page, on Letter or A4. For half hours, larger type, two charts to cut apart or a practice sheet, open the Sheet menu first.

Convert without the chart

From 1:00 a.m. to 12:59 p.m. the numbers stay the same: write four digits with no colon, so 9:05 a.m. is 0905. From 1:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. add 12 to the hour: 3:30 p.m. is 1530. The hour after midnight starts with 00: 12:15 a.m. is 0015. Going back, subtract 12 from any hour above 12.

  • For a wall or a desk, print morning beside afternoon: it has the largest type of the charts.
  • Hand out a practice sheet and keep the filled-in chart as its answer key.

Questions and answers

What time is 0000 in military time?

Midnight, at the start of the day. The first hour runs from 0000 to 0059, so 12:30 a.m. is 0030. Midnight at the end of a day can also be written 2400.

Why does the chart say Noon and Midnight?

The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology calls 12 a.m. and 12 p.m. ambiguous and says they should not be used. The words noon and midnight cannot be mixed up, and neither can 1200 and 0000.

How do you say military time out loud?

Whole hours are said as hundreds: 0600 is zero six hundred and 1800 is eighteen hundred. 1000 is ten hundred, never one thousand. Some speakers say oh six hundred, and the U.S. Army adds the word hours.

Is military time the same as the 24-hour clock?

In the United States the 24-hour clock is often called military time. The military way of writing it drops the colon and keeps the leading zero, so 07:00 on a 24-hour clock is written 0700.

Can I save the chart as a PDF?

Press the print button and choose Save as PDF as the printer. The file holds the sheet that is on screen, on Letter or A4.
