How it works
This color by number kindergarten set uses small grids with big squares. Each of 8 classroom pictures prints as an 8 by 8 grid with the numbers 1 to 4, or a 12 by 12 grid up to 6.

Start with two numbers
The 8 by 8 Scissors and Puzzle piece use only the numbers 1 and 2, and the Scissors has just 26 squares to color. The Paint palette, Easel, Bookshelf and Lunch box use all four.
Then six numbers on 144 squares
Choose the 12 by 12 grid under Size for the same picture with more in it. The Paint palette and the Bookshelf reach the number 6. The 12 by 12 Bookshelf has a number in all 144 squares; every other sheet leaves some squares white.
- On the 8 by 8 Paint palette, 2, 3 and 4 each appear once among 47 squares of 1.
- The key prints above the grid with a color swatch beside each number, for children who cannot read color words.
- An 8 by 8 square prints three times as wide as a square on a 24 by 24 sheet.
Questions and answers
Which numbers does a child need to know for these sheets?
The numbers 1 to 4 for the 8 by 8 sheets and 1 to 6 for the 12 by 12 sheets. Two 8 by 8 sheets, the Scissors and the Puzzle piece, need only 1 and 2.
What are the eight kindergarten pictures?
A Paint palette, an Easel, Scissors, a Glue bottle, a Puzzle piece, a World globe, a Bookshelf and a Lunch box. All are things found in a classroom, drawn as pixel pictures in the 8 basic crayon colors.
What comes after these color by number pages?
The starter set has 8 pictures on 12 by 12 and 24 by 24 grids. For sums, color by addition puts a problem in each square in place of a plain number.
