How it works
This big and small worksheet opens with two boxes headed Big and Small and twelve tiles along the bottom: six pictures or shapes drawn big and six drawn small. The child cuts them out and pastes each under its heading.

What is on the tiles
The opening sheet has three hearts, three stars, two circles, two fish, a house and a balloon. Hearts, stars, circles and fish come in both sizes there, each small one under half as wide as a big one. A big circle nearly fills its tile; a big fish or house is smaller. Larger counts add a moon, an apple, a square and a triangle.
How many to sort
Things to sort sets the number of tiles, from 6 to 20. Half go under each heading, which has one square to paste into for each. The odd choices, 9 and 15, print 8 and 14 tiles. A count prints the same tiles every time.
- All the tiles are cut to one size; only the drawing inside is big or small.
Questions and answers
Is there a middle size on the sheet?
Not as a heading: every tile goes under Big or Small. The big drawings are not all one size, though: the opening sheet has two big hearts, one larger than the other, and a much smaller heart that goes under Small.
Does the big and small sheet come with answers?
Yes. Page 2 is the key, with every tile drawn under its heading. Untick Add an answer key as the last page under More options to print the sheet alone; See the answers shows the key on screen.
Can children put three or more sizes in order?
Not with this sheet, which has two groups only. For comparing two lengths, the measurement worksheets for kindergarten show two bars and ask for the longer or the shorter one.
Can the same tiles be sorted by shape?
A different sheet does that. Under More options, set Kind of sheet to Shapes by name, and twelve shape tiles go under Diamonds, Circles and Triangles. The sorting worksheets page opens on that kind of sheet.
