How it works

This behavior contract template is a blank one-page form: who it is between, one goal, the teacher's part, what follows a met or missed goal, two dates and three signature lines. It is a classroom agreement, not a legal document.

Print the contract

Press Print the contract for the one-goal form, on Letter or A4. The Sheet menu has two goals, three goals with a student comment, a form with a parent's part, and a short form on two half pages.

What is written on it

Press a line at the top, such as Student or Teacher, to type on it. The rest prints blank and is filled in by hand: the goal after I will, what the teacher will do, and what happens when the goal is met and when it is not.

Dates and signatures

The line We will review it on holds the day the contract is looked at again. Every form ends with lines to sign: three on the full school forms, two on the short forms and the home forms.

The last sheet is marked Sample: its top lines hold made-up words, and no real student is named.
The forms for home put a parent in the teacher's place and have two signature lines.

What goes in a behavior contract?

On the full forms: who the contract is between, one to three goals, what the teacher or parent will do, what happens when a goal is met and when it is not, a start date, a review date and signatures.

Is a behavior agreement template the same thing?

Yes, it is the same signed sheet under a softer name. The Sheet menu has agreement forms for school and for home, headed I agree to and When I keep my part.

Is a behavior contract a legal document?

The form on this page is not. It is a written agreement between a student and the adults who sign it, for a classroom or a family, and the page does not present it as a legal document.

Can I type on the behavior contract before printing?

Not on this page. Each form prints blank with ruled lines, and the names, the goal and the dates are written by hand.

Is there a shorter behavior contract for younger students?
