30 solutions in the bag

Every solution is called once, in random order.

Playing with 30 solutions. The game is kept in this browser until you start a new one.

Called so far 0

Nothing called yet. Each call is listed here so a winning card can be checked.

How it works

Algebra bingo for pre-algebra and algebra 1: the cards hold 30 solutions, from x = −5 to x = 24. Each has one equation to call: ten one-step, ten two-step and ten with brackets or x on both sides.

Write the equation, not the answer

Press Call the game, then Call the next one. The caller shows the solution with its equation. Write 9x − 11 = −47 on the board; pupils solve it and cover x = −4.

Play one level

If your class has met one-step equations only, keep the ten solutions listed under that level in the word list under More options, delete the rest, and choose 3 × 3.

Questions and answers

How do you play algebra bingo?

Each pupil has a different card of solutions. You write an equation, pupils solve it, and whoever has that solution covers it. The first to finish a row, column or diagonal shows their working.

How do you solve 4x − 11 = x + 22?

Take x from both sides: 3x − 11 = 22. Add 11 to both sides: 3x = 33. Divide by 3: x = 11. Check it: 4 × 11 − 11 = 33, and 11 + 22 = 33.

Can two equations have the same answer?

Not in this set. Each of the 30 solutions has exactly one equation, so every call points to one square and a winning card is quick to check against the list.

All 30 solutions

One-step equations 10

  • x = 0 7x = 0
  • x = 1 5 + x = 6
  • x = 3 x + 13 = 16
  • x = 7 x − 10 = −3
  • x = 16 3x = 48
  • x = 18 4 + x = 22
  • x = 21 x + 3 = 24
  • x = 23 x − 10 = 13
  • x = −1 x − 7 = −8
  • x = −3 x + 6 = 3

Two-step equations 10

  • x = 4 6x − 15 = 9
  • x = 6 7x − 4 = 38
  • x = 8 9x − 2 = 70
  • x = 9 3x − 3 = 24
  • x = 10 9x + 13 = 103
  • x = 13 3x − 2 = 37
  • x = 19 9x − 3 = 168
  • x = 20 6x + 13 = 133
  • x = −4 9x − 11 = −47
  • x = −5 6x − 6 = −36

Brackets or x on both sides 10

  • x = 2 6x + 5 = 5x + 7
  • x = 5 2(x + 4) = 18
  • x = 11 4x − 11 = x + 22
  • x = 12 2(x + 6) = 36
  • x = 14 7x + 4 = 4x + 46
  • x = 15 3(x + 2) = 51
  • x = 17 4x + 9 = x + 60
  • x = 22 5(x + 5) = 135
  • x = 24 6x − 4 = 5x + 20
  • x = −2 5(x + 4) = 10
