How it works
Integer bingo for grades 6 and 7: the cards hold the answers from −20 to +20. Each answer has up to four facts that use negative numbers, one each for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

Call a fact, not the answer
Press Call the game, then Call the next one. The caller shows the answer with its facts. Write one fact on the board, such as 2 × (−6), and pupils cover −12.
One operation at a time
For an adding and subtracting round, read only the first two facts of each call. Answers such as +7 and −13 have no multiplying fact, because no two factors from 2 to 12 make them.
Questions and answers
How do you play integer bingo?
Each pupil has a card of answers from −20 to 20. You give a fact with a negative number, pupils work it out, and anyone with that answer covers it. The first full row, column or diagonal wins.
What is −24 − (−12)?
−12. Subtracting a negative is the same as adding its opposite, so −24 − (−12) = −24 + 12 = −12. Every subtracting fact in the list subtracts a negative number.
How many answers does each card hold?
A 5 × 5 card holds 24 of the 41 answers around a free center, so every card leaves out 17 and no two cards are alike. For a shorter list, open More options and delete answers from the word list.
