How it works

Bingo classroom management uses one board for the whole class: the numbers 1 to 25 on a 5 x 5 card. When everyone meets an expectation, draw a number and mark it. The draws stay in this browser overnight.

Set up the board

Press Make cards, tap the title on the card and type the reward. Print the card one to a page as a poster, or keep it on the projector and tap a square to mark it. The page announces a finished line.

Draw when the class earns it

Name one expectation, such as a quiet line-up. When the whole class meets it, press Draw a number and mark that square. The game is still here tomorrow.

Choose how long a game lasts

One line takes about 15 draws and never more than 21. Four corners takes about 21. The whole board takes exactly 25.

  • Run the whole game on one computer and one browser. The draws are stored there and nowhere else.
  • New game clears every draw, and it asks twice first. Take back the last call undoes one draw.
  • The board carries no names. Any student's effort earns the draw, and the reward goes to everyone.

Questions and answers

What is classroom management bingo?

A whole-class reward game. The teacher keeps one bingo board of the numbers 1 to 25. Each time the class meets a stated expectation, one number is drawn and marked. A finished line earns a reward the class agreed on in advance.

What are good free rewards for class bingo?

Five extra minutes of recess, an extra chapter of the read-aloud, free drawing time, a lesson outside, Pajama day, Hat day or Silly sock day. Or let the class pick the brain break, the clean-up music or which subject comes first.

How long does a game of class bingo last?

At one draw a day, one line takes about three school weeks, four corners about four, and the whole board exactly five. For a game that ends within a week, draw three or four times a day.

Does the board keep its marks overnight?

Yes, on this computer and in this browser. Every draw is stored as it is made and is there after a reload. Squares tapped on the card stay marked until you press Clear marks or make a new card.

How is this different from a class reward chart?

A classroom reward chart fills a fixed number of boxes, so everyone can see how far the prize is. On a bingo board each success earns a random square, so nobody knows which draw will finish the line.
