How it works
Place value bingo for grade 2: 48 three-digit numbers built from the same digits, so 427, 472 and 742 can all sit on one card. Pupils must read the places to cover the right one.

Pick the form you call
Press Call the game, then Call the next one. The caller shows the number and three ways to say it: 3 hundreds, 0 tens, 6 ones; 300 + 6; three hundred six. Read one form aloud, not the number.
Check a win
The list under the tool groups the numbers by their digits. When a pupil calls bingo, have them read each covered number in the form you used.
- Twelve of the numbers hold a zero, such as 603 and 630. Call them early; they catch pupils who skip the empty place.
Questions and answers
What is place value bingo?
A bingo game where the card shows numerals and the call gives a number another way: in hundreds, tens and ones, in expanded form or in words. Pupils cover the numeral that matches, so they practice reading each place.
How do you write 306 in expanded form?
300 + 6. A zero in the tens place adds nothing, so it is left out of the sum. In places it is 3 hundreds, 0 tens, 6 ones, and in words three hundred six.
Can I play with two-digit numbers?
Yes. Replace the list with your own tens and ones, such as 34 and 43, and choose 4 × 4. A number you type has no call line, so say its tens and ones yourself.
