How it works
This STEAM lesson plan template plans a challenge in which students design, build and test something. STEAM adds the arts to science, technology, engineering and math, so the last row has an Art and design box.

One challenge, from the problem to the share
State the problem in a sentence, then its rules and limits: the time, the size, what counts as done. Plan is an open box for a sketch. Engineers go back over a design as they learn more, so Change and test again has a box of its own after Build and test.
A STEM lesson plan template with no art box
The STEM sheet is the same challenge in nine boxes, with Share across the foot. Where each subject shows up has a row for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, to note what students use from each.
- Test record gives a team six numbered tests: what they changed, what happened and a measurement.
- Challenge cards print two to a page, each with the challenge, what students may use, the rules and a box to draw a plan.
- The sample is a made-up paper bridge challenge; its rule and its minutes are examples, not requirements.
Questions and answers
Is there a STEAM lesson plan template for elementary?
Yes. Elementary STEAM lesson plan has six large boxes in words for a young class, among them The problem in our words and Make it our own. Leave that art box empty and it is a STEM lesson plan template for elementary classes.
Is there a STEM lesson plan template PDF?
Yes. A PDF holds one sheet, on Letter or A4, so save the teacher's plan and the students' challenge cards as separate files from the print window.
Are these STEM lesson plan templates free?
Yes, free with no sign-up. The layouts are our own. Descriptions of the engineering design process vary and there is no single standard form, so the boxes use plain words and follow no kit, program or standards set.
